A Mão do Rei (em alguns casos Mão da Rainha), ou simplesmente o Mão, é o principal conselheiro do Rei, e executor de seus comandos nos Sete Reinos. Os deveres da Mão incluem comandar os exércitos do Rei, esboçar suas leis, e, de forma geral, administrar o dia-a-dia do Reino. A Mão pode atuar em nome do Rei, sentando no Trono de Ferro para aplicar a justiça quando ele estiver ausente, doente ou indisposto por qualquer razão.[1] A Mão também senta no pequeno conselho e o preside caso o Rei não se faça presente.

O posto, tipicamente, faz da Mão o segundo homem mais poderoso do Reino, atrás apenas do Rei,[1] apesar de que algumas Mãos tiveram a fama de controlar seus Reis. É considerado um trabalho difícil, pouco glorioso e de imensa responsabilidade. Homens muito capazes já falharam neste posto no decorrer da história. A Mão reside na Fortaleza Vermelha na Torre da Mão. Cada Mão escolhe seu próprio emblema, mas todos incluem uma mão. Um colar com elos em forma de mãos é um dos distintivos possíveis. Os criados da Mão também usam mãos como seus emblemas.

Um ditado afirma que "O que o Rei sonha, a Mão constrói", mas a plebe diz que "Enquanto o Rei come, a Mão limpa a merda".[1]

Após a Guerra da Conquista, a primeira Mão do Rei Aegon I foi Orys Baratheon.[2]
