A segunda temporada de House of the Dragon foi oficialmente lançado pela HBO em 16 de junho de 2024, contendo oito episódios, cada um com estreia semanal, encerrada em 4 de agosto do mesmo ano.

House of the Dragon foi oficialmente renovada para uma segunda temporada em 26 de agosto de 2022, cinco dias após a exibição do piloto da série.[1]
Em 31 de agosto de 2022, Miguel Sapochnik anunciou que não retornaria como co-showrunner e diretor para a 2ª temporada. No entanto, ele permaneceria como produtor executivo da série. Ryan Condal passou a ser o único showrunner da série e continuaria a trabalhar em estreita colaboração com George R. R. Martin. O veterano diretor de "Game of Thrones", Alan Taylor, foi contratado pela HBO para ser diretor e produtor executivo da segunda temporada.[2]
A produtora executiva Jocelyn Diaz também não retornaria para a segunda temporada. Sara Hess e Vince Gerardis mantêm-se como produtores executivos, no entanto.[3]
